About the Valley View Council
The Valley View Council is a new group that will meet monthly to help plan and promote events, activities and other opportunities for the new Full-Service Community Schools program that Valley View Elementary has been selected for.
Together We Are Stronger
✅ ICE and Schools: To ensure your child’s safety, Valley View Elementary has an action plan in place if enforcement is attempted at school. In order for enforcement to happen at school the outside agency must provide a Search Warrant signed by a Judge to gain access to our school.
✅ We Are Here to Help: If you have concerns or need resources, we can provide information about community organizations that offer legal support and assistance.
-
Talk to Your Children: Reassure them that school is a safe place and encourage them to focus on their learning.
-
Emergency Contacts: Make sure the school has up-to-date contact information in case of an emergency.
-
Know Your Rights: If you have concerns about immigration issues, we can provide information on your rights and available resources.
-
Have an Emergency Plan: Have an emergency plan in place in case you are detained, or an emergency takes place. We have plans available for families to utilize at school. Please reach out to Mr. Kevin or Mr. Rene for assistance with these plans. We stand ready to help. 763-528-4201
About the Full-Service Community Schools Grant
Valley View Elementary School was selected for the Full-Service Community Schools Fiscal Year 2025-2027 Startup Grant Opportunity by the Minnesota Department of Education.
The full-service community schools strategy transforms a school into a place where educators, local community members, families, and students work together to strengthen conditions for student learning and healthy development. As partners, they organize in- and out-of-school resources, supports, and opportunities so that young people thrive.
The Essentials for Community School Transformation Framework helps school communities actively build strong relationships, partnerships and webs of supports while centering children, youth, families and communities through the integrated development and improvement of six “key practices” as defined in the Framework: Essentials for Community School Transformation.
Six Key Practices
- 1. Collaborative Leadership, Shared Power and Voice
- 2. Powerful Student, Family and Community Engagement
- 3. Integrated Systems of Support
- 4. Enriched and Out-of-School-Time Learning Opportunities
- 5. Rigorous, Community-Connected (Culturally Responsive) Classroom Instructions
- 6. Culture of Belonging, Safety and Care
